Malta from  pre-historic times to Eurovision

Our show features Maltese legends and traditions in the form of dance, aerial gymnastics , music and songs.

"Malta from pre-historic times to Eurovision" is a unique show that allows you to experience Malta at it's best!

What to expect

Ambient session

Usually it takes people some time to get to the event. To make it more entertaining whilst everybody is gathering we offer "ambient sessions" that feature traditional Maltese music and atmospheric dance prior to the main show.

We do have a fantastic leading musician and during the ambient sessions our dancers help him with tambourines. We all love the tambourines as they do create such a cheerful atmosphere! After the show we offer a photoshoot with the performers.

Aerial gymnastics show

"Nymph of Calypso" who according to a  legend lived at the Maltese island of Gozo is the opening show of our program. It is performed on a lollipop (hoop on stand). According to Homer's Odyssey, the nymph of Calypso detained the Greek hero Odysseus for 7 years on the island of Ogygia, after a ship wreck. Many believe that Ogygia, described by Homer as a lush island, is actually the island of Gozo in the Maltese archipelago.

Singer  and musician

We have a fantastic singer and a highly prosessional musician to perform for you on the day!

Our goal is displaying various Maltese traditions, so you will hear Carnival Hymn (as it is a key Maltese tradition); "Silent night" in Maltese ( religion is still very popular in Malta) and we want to illustrate the Christmas tradition. And, of course, you will hear "Xemx" played at every Maltese wedding! You will also hear the Maltese national anthem.

LED show

We keep the traditions alive but we incorpoate and adopt all the modern technologies and ideas available to us! In the modern world it is important to stay "up-to-date" and we do try to make our show as varied and as entertaining for you as possible. A number of shows will feature LED props or/and costumes. Maltese people love Chrismas lights, so of course our choreography for  "Silent night" will be performed by a LED dancer. Our illustration of the "Bride from Mosta" legend and the  traditional song "Il-Bajja tal-Mellieħa " will also feature LED props and costumes.

Dance with original props

We use a lot of different props in our show. We have a dance with fabrics, with flow poi, with LED staffs, with fabric fans and more.

Such original items do add a lot of flavour to our shows making them visually rich. A typical traditional show can become monotone after a while. Well, with us it is not the case! The show is engaging and dynamic as we agree with the proverb "Variety is the spice of life!" Our show is where tradition meets innovation. We do hope you will like and enjoy our vision and approach!

Acrobatic elements

Some of the dance compositions feature acrobatic elements and complex dance lifts. For example, the closing show of the program set to the "L-innu tal-karnival" (the Carnival Hymn) features acrobatic lifts, work with original props and even the lollipop (hoop on stand) show. Carnival is time filled with joy and laughter, it's a happy time! We tried to keep the spirit and we hope that for a moment you can experience the wonderful Carnival ambience with us! Maybe you know of Venice and Brazilian carnivals but in Malta it's a big tradition as well!

Maltese show

The show group consists of dancers, an aerial artist, a singer and a musician. Thus we use choreography, circus skills, vocal and musical instruments to bring the taste of Malta to your doorstep.

We preserve the traditions and make use of innovative ideas and technologies available to us. For example, we combine traditional dancing with LED props. In general we use a lot of original props to make our show stand out. Modern world is focused on moving forward and to keep the traditions alive we have to be up-to-date and up to speed! The show illustrates important Maltese traditions such as Christmas or Carnival, shows you our vision of Malta in ancient days and its development up till now. You will also enjoy the traditional rhythms with our fantastic musician!

Maria Lanfren,
Creative Director

Throughout my performing career I've done dance, aerial gymnastics, worked in Fire & LED theatre and used a lot of original props to make my shows different. Having moved to Malta I decided to create a show that will combine all the skills I acquired previously and, obviously, since I am now in Malta the show had to be relevant! I registered for classes to learn Maltese language (being based on Arabic but written in Latin it is quite unique) and I bought a book called "Maltese Mythology". This is where the idea of the show came from. A typical "traditional" show can be a bit "monotone". At the same time, visitors to Malta wish to experience the traditions. I created a solution! Our show features not just "traditional dance and music"; we use a different approach, combining traditional dance with original props ( i e flow poi) or with LEDs. One of the Maltese legends is illustrated by an aerialist. We take you on a journey where you will experience Malta from prehistoric times ( and Maltese Ġgantija - prehistoric megalithic temples- are significantly older than the Egyptian pyramids) to Eurovision! Our last dance is set to "Bella" by Adian Cassar, who successfully won the Malta Eurovision song contest and will now represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna.

Maltese show is one of our programs. We equally have Spanish, Gatsby, Rock and neo-Classical. We are also happy to create a bespoke solution for any other theme.

The same programs can be performed with fire.

Please share with us your ideas and we will create a perfect program for your special event!
